Next Year's Alumni Bash

Hey folks,

Thanks for stopping by. There is a large group of locals and natives working on making 2010's Palisade Pioneer Days the BIGGEST and BEST ever! Before going any further, those of us working on next year's festival would like to give a rather enormous shout-out to all those who got this annual party off the ground and running for the past 20+ years. Anyone who's been involved in an undertaking like this knows it's a lot of work, but worth it to bring our friends back to town for some good, old-fashioned fun! Thank you! All of you!

Now, to the nitty gritty of what we have cooking for next year:

We've all decided to go with "Home...Where The Heart Grows" for next year's theme, simply because it so true, plus it fits with a theme we're scheming up. 2010's celebration will be four days long because that's the only way we could fit in an All-Class Palisade and Wauneta-Palisade Alumni Reunion! Yes, folks, you guessed it: This year's festival is going to be enormous and if you're not there, you're going to miss out on what is quite possibly going to be the biggest Pioneer Days EVER.

Here's a rundown of events we have confirmed for next year, with more to be added later:

Thursday evening:
  • Hee Haw show

Friday evening:
  • Banquet featuring scrumptious desserts and delicious sides from longtime Palisade school cooks Mary Lou Post and Marge Gates. Menu items and entertainment for the event are being finalized, but how does a hypnotist or comedian sound? Enticing, no? The banquet is dubbed "Alumni and Friends" and is open to anyone who wishes to come and celebrate Palisade! Graduates from their respective classes will be recognized, but again, ANYONE IS WELCOME. This is Palisade after all... that's how we roll...
  • Karaoke downtown at the newly-remodeled American Legion building.
Saturday:
  • 5K Run and 3K Walk
  • Breakfast, served by the local volunteer fire department members, at the Fire Hall.
  • The parade where past and present Palisade, Wauneta and Wauneta-Palisade educators will be honored as the parade grand marshals!
  • Cake walk
  • Kids games: Kiddie Carnival, dime toss and street games like egg toss and other fun events.
  • Adult street games
  • Cowpie Bingo
  • Co-ed sand volleyball in its old location right next to the former Last Resort building on Main Street IN a beer garden!
  • People BINGO

  • 3-on-3 basketball tournament
  • Bounce house for the kiddos.
  • Free swimming at the Palisade Pool.
  • Exhibitors and craft fair, as well as great spots to get incredible grub, including the free BBQ at the park.
